Becoming a yoga instructor has given me a new perspective on life, and I feel grateful and humbled every day for the opportunity to practice and teach. Yoga has brought constant change in many ways, impacting my physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional well-being. Even after almost a decade of practice, I continue to experience its challenges and growth. Through daily reflection, I guide my teaching based on my own experiences with physical and mental health and wellness, sharing what I love, how I learned, and what I've discovered.
At the heart of yoga is the importance of practicing with intention, an open and light-hearted attitude, patience, awareness, kindness, and mindfulness. The practice starts with listening to your body and recognizing the constant messages it sends in different ways. Each of us is unique, and only you can know how you feel. I hope SIVA will provide you the safe place with the opportunity to connect your body, soul, and mind as yoga has done for me, allowing you to take your practice beyond the mat.
In essence, doing yoga is a form of healing, and if you're healing, you're doing yoga.

I used to view yoga as just a form of physical exercise. I thought that if I were to practice yoga, I could become stronger and more flexible, so that I would be able to do all those beautiful poses I see on Instagram and social media. However, the more I practiced yoga, the less I obsessed over the poses. Instead, I found appreciation in being able to better understand myself (my body, my breath, and my mental state) during each practice.
Yoga allows me to slow down from the busy world outside, so that I can tune in with myself each day. It shows me my physical limitations, and it humbles me. It teaches me to be grateful for what I can do and what I can achieve through consistent practice. It allows me to be compassionate to myself, so that I may be compassionate to others. Ultimately, my yoga practice becomes a time for self-reflection so that I can be a better version of myself.
I hope that SIVA can create a community where people will be able to share their experiences with yoga, and that this will transcend into beautiful connections beyond the studio space.

I know someone who likes to post yoga photos on IG, and they look beautiful and sexy. I was interested in trying it out, but found that my body was too stiff to do the poses. So, I became interested in learning yoga and started practicing it. Through continuous practice, I found that I enjoyed it and learned that yoga is not just about making our bodies flexible, but it also helps with our mental health, breathing, and overall well-being. Yoga has many benefits for individuals, especially for those who suffer from back pain due to their jobs, such as sitting for long periods of time. After practicing yoga, I have noticed significant improvements in my overall well-being.
I want the younger generation to become more familiar with yoga, as it can improve their image, health, and mental well-being. They can also apply yoga to their daily lives. I hope they find SIVA as a place to start their journey.

Yoga is much more than just improving our physical strength through asanas.
While the physical practice is important, it is the Yamas and Niyamas that bring significant impacts to our mind and soul. These principles guide us in how we interact with others and serve them better in our daily lives outside of our yoga practice.
Our experienced instructors bring a unique and positive energy to their classes, and we hope you'll have the opportunity to experience yoga with a deeper level of understanding and connection.
As you practice, remember to remain flexible and bend a little so that you don't break.
